Contract drafting, a core activity of corporate attorneys, paralegals
and contract administrators, has traditionally consisted of recycling
forms of questionable quality and relevance. Workshop leader Kenneth A.
Adams offers an antidote - a uniquely rigorous overview of issues relating
to contract language and layout based on his book A Manual of Style
for Contract Drafting.
West Legalworks, the premier provider of legal education, presents Drafting Contracts - Language and Layout, A Comprehensive and
Disciplined Approach to Drafting Agreements. This workshop explores
what makes for clear and effective contracts. Ken uses examples throughout
drawn from actual contracts, and rather than simple lecturing, he uses
questions and drafting exercises to encourage participation. He also
emphasizes the practical considerations unique to the drafting process.
This program is a must for attorneys, paralegals and contracts
administrators.

About the workshop leader
Kenneth A. Adams is a corporate lawyer who has written widely on legal
drafting. His most recent book, A Manual of Style for Contract
Drafting (American Bar Association 2004), is one of the
ABA's best-selling titles and will be distributed to program attendees.
Ken is uniquely qualified to lead our seminars on contract drafting. He's
not a spectator - he has practiced corporate law at major law firms in the
U.S. and Europe. But he doesn't simply recycle the conventional wisdom
instead, marrying his understanding of transactions and his knack for
language, he offers advice that is rigorous, practical, and often
innovative.

"As one who drafts, revises and negotiates all kinds of contracts, I
found the seminar's focus on the 'basics' to be as informative as it was
indispensable."
- Paul Escobar, Corporate Counsel, Cumberland
Farms, Inc
" No one has done more clear and disciplined thinking about more
troublesome aspects of contract drafting than Ken Adams. . He forces you
to face, in a clear-eyed manner, the redundancies, inefficiencies,
anachronisms, inconsistencies and imprecisions that weaken contract
drafting at even the best firms."
- Bryn Vaaler, Professional
Development Partner, Dorsey & Whitney LLP
"Ken's great sense of humor made for an
interesting seminar that I'll be recommending to others. Keep up the fight
for clearer contracts!"
-- Zandra Robinson, Contract Administrator,
Dallas, TX
